I heard from people I know who lived in British Columbia at the time, that a lot of people were offended by the ‘wild colours’ of the late 50’s and early 60’s especially the pink plates of 1961 and 1962. So in 1963 British Columbia issued a rather normal and quiet color scheme of white on light blue. The province would never again issue any bizarre color schemes. From 1963 onwards all British Columbia passenger car license plates would be blue and white with the exception of 1967 when they used red on white (Canada colors) for Canada’s Centennial year. -Jerry “Woody” Woodhead
