Rode to Collingwood a few weeks back, chasing rumours of found original molds and bizarre experimental pieces from the original Blue Mountain Pottery factory. Sadly, the factory is absolutely shut and the molds were definitely smashed and destroyed but the silver lining, lots of the original experiments (glaze experiments and form studies) still exist. When the factory gave notice of it’s closing, collectors swooped in and bought almost all the pieces that were being developed. Beautiful examples, like this one, exist and demonstrate that the company was trying to expand on its lines and glaze options.
