Chimo (meaning “Be Welcome” or “We are friendly” in Cree), the 10.7 Meters tall fibreglass Polar Bear, welcomes travelers to the town of Cochrane, which is the starting point of the Polar Bear Express (a train that runs all the way to Moosonee at the edge of James Bay). The polar bear is the town’s mascot due to its northerly location and link via the rail, thus this beast is also the community’s welcome committee.

The town of Cochrane is in Ontario, not in Alberta.
