Wartime technologies, from bent plywood and new adhesives to assembly line manufacturing, were quickly transformed and adapted for civilian uses. Gone were the overstuffed and large scaled piece of the past, replaced by leaner and more organic forms. These new forms were meant to inspire and symbolize a new beginning and a new age. Modernism had begun in Canada and designers were quick to manifest it across all types of products.
