This is a beautiful example of this Canadian ceramicists work. Cartier, a creative icon that had a strong body of work and was key in making Ceramique de Beauce ceramics in Quebec profitable, relevant and influential. Finding his studio work on the open market is getting extremely rare and prices are escalating daily. This big vase features an unusual hand cut decoration and small run, custom glaze application on locally sourced clay. Cartier produced some beautiful work for Beauce, but for me, his studio pieces are the best. Outstanding.
