Linda Manzer is one of Canada’s most accomplished luthiers. Like so many great Canadian builders, Linda Manzer started with Jean Larrivee, working with him between 1974 and 1978 and went on to work with Jimmy D’Aquisto. Linda Manzer guitars are highly regarded and are played by many prominent musicians, most notably Pat Metheny and Bruce Cockburn. All her guitars are exceedingly well built. This example, built in 1980, features a spruce top, Indian Rosewood back, sides, and headplate, and an ebony fingerboard and bridge. As handbuilt guitars go, it’s relatively unornamented; there is a small floral inlay at the 7th fret. There is natural lacquer shrinkage but no checking or significant finish damage. Via.
