These crafted wines were originally intended to be released with owner John Howard’s name on the label. When Howard was accused of being yet another “megalomaniac,” the appellation stuck. And so, the wine collection was issued with bottles boasting unusually egocentric monikers such as: Eccentric Savagnin, Contrarian Sauvignon Blanc, Narcissist Riesling, Pink Slip Pinot Noir Rose, SonOfaBitch Pinot Noir, Bravado Cabernet Sauvignon, Vainglorious Cabernet Merlot, Coldhearted Cabernet Franc Icewine, My Way Chardonnay and Bigmouth Merlot.

I’m quite fond of the label on Megalomaniac’s Homegrown Vinyard 4379. The pattern on the man’s suit jacket is actually a map of the area with coordinates (the dark spot on the tip of his hat being the Lake Ontario shoreline). <http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_0V2ShTAicrU/TO2dSN8k2bI/AAAAAAAAAqk/Dd0PbJzO-GI/s1600/IMG_5882.JPG>

This design speaks to the politics/controversy regarding the labeling of wines that are called Ontario wines but have only 30% Ontario content. This tasty wine is 100% homegrown.
