Rare Merak speakers, dubbed a ‘Mission 770 clone’, used a top of the line Seas tweeter and a 8″ woofer. These were probably made for Merak Acoustics by Audio Products International (API), the same Canadian company that produced Energy, Mirage, and Sound Dynamics. Woofers are marked with API model codes (most likely made by Cambridge Speakers of Ontario, who supplied most of API’s woofers). These pre-date acquisition of the Merak name by Axiom, so probably early 80’s. Not the same animal at all that you might recall from Radio Shack / The Source.
