Why does this look like a soccer ball? Is this supposed to be an award? Looks like a bad design.

Maybe need to see this in person, but the design is uninspired for sure. The material seems wrong, and the form is too heavy, it looks like a stock item from a trophy store.

EZ…Canadian design benefits from an award system and the recognition that it generates. It is also fantastic that the RBC is committed to backing this event as well. It is early days, but if this award becomes a long standing thing, it can be a valuable boost for emerging designers to get started.

Improve the judging and criteria so that it is not Shauna’s friends and actually has a purpose and merit, not just some activity for the DX to suck up more funding and press. I agree that awards can actually mean something, but it will take some time and some real thinking to make this one of them.

You know…sometimes design critique can be confused with complaining. I am all for sharing voices but would love if we could raise the value of discourse. Less moaning and more progress. Just saying.
