Originally designed to be a print ad but then was made into a poster and t-shirt. This is yet another example of Kurt Swinghammer’s work that helped make the design of the music store chain so uniquely Sam’s.

Sam’s son Jason asked myself, Mary Margaret O’Hara, Joe Mendleson, and a couple of other artist/musician types to come up with an interpretation of the store front for a series of full page ads in Canadian music mags. It was a response to the popular Absolut Vodka campaign. They then turned mine into a T-shirt, and that led to becoming their main illustration/design person until the chain folded. They gave me complete freedom and I loved how anti-corporate they wanted to go.

Thanks for this context Kurt. Sounds like the dream client. We’d love to see more of the work!
