The symbol of the white cane is certainly the universal indicator of the blind but more people are coping with partial blindness than full loss of sight. Not wanting to use the white cane as their symbol, the partially blind wanted to create their own imagery to represent themselves to the public and to help others understand and assist. This campaign was created by Libby Thaw and the checkered eye is quickly emerging as the symbol of the partially impaired. Visit their site and support this excellent initiative.
