Virginia Johnson is a Toronto-based clothing/textile designer and illustrator. Johnson’s prints (such as Posy, Cocoon, and Forest – shown above) are inspired by diverse cultures, craft methodologies and time periods. Images of nature, both abstracted and literal, often make their way into her pieces in unusual and unexpected ways. Each of Johnson’s textiles is designed using iterative sketching and watercolour on paper, the result is an energetic and textural quality that weaves its way through bold palettes and chaotic patterns, without ever being over the top.
